Thomas J. Fox, 86, of Canaan Township, Waymart, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday evening, July 19, 2026. His beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Joyce J. (Eldred) Fox, preceded him in death by less than 24 hours on Saturday, July 18, 2026. They were united in marriage on September 26, 1964, at St. Mary's Church in Waymart.

Born on December 7, 1939, at the family farm in South Canaan Township, Tom was the son of the late Louis P. Fox, Sr. and Margaret H. (Graytock) Fox.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961, serving with the 507th Engineering Company (IM), APO 288, and spending 18 months stationed in France. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he devoted 33 years of hard work as a machine press operator at Moore Business Forms in Honesdale. After retiring, he combined his lifelong passion for firearms with entrepreneurship by owning and operating a gun shop for five years.

A true outdoorsman, Tom followed in his late father's footsteps and developed a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and trapping. He found great satisfaction in raising chickens, turkeys, and other farm animals, tending a large garden, and spending time outdoors. An avid collector of firearms, he was well known for his extensive knowledge and appreciation of them.

Tom's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted and active member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart, where he generously gave of his time and talents throughout the years. Above all else, Tom cherished his family and found his greatest joy in the life he built alongside Joyce, whom he loved deeply.

He is survived by two sons, Eric T. Fox and his wife, Julia, and Jason R. Fox and his companion, Melissa O'Keefe, all of Waymart; two granddaughters, Peyton and Amaris; brothers and sisters, Louis P. Fox, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, Ann Janezic Busar, Samuel Fox and his wife, Gail, John Fox, and Margaret Fox-Dougherty; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large extended family.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Tom was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter Fox, Andrew T. Fox, and Joseph M. Fox.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the lives of Thomas and Joyce Fox will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 242 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA.
