Stanley G. Gajda

Stanley G. Gajda, Jr., 66, a lifelong resident of Canaan Township, Waymart, died on Saturday morning, December 16, 2023 at home.

Born November 1, 1957 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Stanley and Anna (Koch) Gajda.

Stan graduated from Western Wayne High School in 1976.  He later began a career as an auto glass installer at Mesko Glass in both Carbondale and Honesdale which spanned many years, until his recent retirement. Stan enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He especially enjoyed ice fishing.  He was a 49ers fan and liked to cheer them on with his sister. Stan was well known in the community for his gardening and home-grown garlic. He was a member of the NRA and the National Hot Rod Association. Stan raced dragster bikes for many years which earned him several trophies. He enjoyed the simple things in life and looked forward to camping, riding his Harley, and spending time with his friends and family. 

Stanley is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Novak and her husband Paul; his sister, Christine Altemier of Waymart; three brothers, Alex Gajda and his wife Patricia of Florida, Michael Gajda and his wife Joanie of Curtis Valley, and Mark Gajda of Mt. Pleasant Twp.; his nieces, Kristianna Altemier and Alissa Swingle and her husband Richard; and his extended family members Ted and Debbie Wilson. 

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, December 22 at 11:00 A.M. in the Calvary United Methodist Church, 151 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with Pastor Don Perry officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the church.

Friends and family may visit on Thursday, December 21 from 5-7 P.M. at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472. 

Interment will be on Friday in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Tpk., Waymart.
