Sally E. Jonas

Sally E. Jonas, 86, of Cold Spring, Pleasant Mount, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, August 1, 2026, at home. Edwin P. Jonas, her husband of 66 years, preceded her in death on December 21, 2024.

Born August 14, 1939, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Dr. William J. Perkins and Kathryn (Katz) Perkins.

Sally was a faithful member of the Cold Spring Chapel, which was a very special place to her. Her family was her greatest joy in life. She was the beloved matriarch of her family; the keeper of all things and her home was the heart of family life, always serving as headquarters where everyone gathered, celebrated, sought advice, and found comfort. Sally was a graceful queen, a gentle guide, and forever in our hearts. Her influence will remain evident in the generations that follow.

Sally is survived by her children: Edwin P. Jonas II and his wife Melany of Lancaster, PA, William J. Jonas and his wife Mia of Cold Spring, Donald A. Jonas and his wife Karen of Pleasant Mount, David P. Jonas and his wife Shelly of Cold Spring, and Cindy Pearl of Scranton; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Tammy Thompson of Honesdale; her special friend, Patty Rake, whose kindness and devoted friendship were a blessing in Sally's later years. Patty faithfully helped with daily chores, kept her company, and was always just a phone call away; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Judith Muller; and a great-granddaughter, Wrenley Jo Diehl.

In accordance with Sally's wishes, there will be no public services.

Interment will be private in the churchyard at Cold Spring Chapel with Pastor Mary Bryant officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sally's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. Edward R. Howell, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
