Ruth A. Daniels

Ruth A. Daniels, 80, of Carbondale passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 25, 2023 at home.  She was preceded in death by her husband Arlen "Bucky" G. Daniels in 2012.

Born September 13, 1943 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Wagner) Barhight.

Ruth was a seamstress and worked for more than 28 years at The Waymart Knitwear until its closure. She later worked at the former Osprey Ridge Nursing Home in the laundry department.  Ruth loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Izzy.  She was fond of animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed laying outside in the sunshine.  She was always full of life and had a wonderful sense of humor that will be lovingly remembered. 

Ruth is survived by two daughters:  Mary Daniels of Carbondale and Brenda Cohowcz and her husband Brian of Creamton; and Cathy "String" Dietz of Salem Mountain, whom she loved and raised as a daughter; four grandchildren:  Tammy Lloyd, Nichole McAndrew, Travis Cohowcz, and Tiler Cohowcz; a great-grandson, Carter Seeley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Ciccotelli; and a brother, Frankie Barhight.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Sharon Dietz officiating at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472. 

The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 2:00 P.M in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike, Waymart, PA.  Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
