Rita Francisco

Rita Hook Francisco, 98, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. Her husband, Andrew Francisco preceded her in death.

Born January 11, 1926 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mollie (Weist) Hook.

Rita was the eldest of 6 children. She attended Honesdale Catholic High School. Rita had a zest for life, laughter and adventure. She lived in Manhattan, Chicago, and Orlando before returning to her roots in Honesdale. Rita enjoyed making jewelry, crosswords, fashion and travel.

Rita is survived by her sisters, Rosella Babel of Beach Lake, and Helen Cortazzo of New Jersey; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jane Reifler, Anne Hook; and her brother, Gerald Hook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary Magdalen Church, 416 Church Street, Honesdale. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the church.

Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery, Fair Avenue in Honesdale.
