Pauline S. Gilpin, 97, of Newfoundland, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, surrounded her her loving family on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025.
Born on July 3, 1928 in Angels, Dreher Township, PA, Pauline was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen Cron Stevenson.
A dedicated student, she graduated as valedictorian of Greene Dreher High School's Class of 1946. On January 11, 1947, she married the love of her life, Albert "Bud" Gilpin Jr., who preceded her in death on June 17, 2001.
Pauline is survived by her two children, Rev. Gary L. Gilpin and his wife Lisa, of Lakeland, Florida, and Linda Gilpin Frick and her husband Mark, of Newfoundland. She was a proud grandmother to Gary Brock Gilpin (Amy), Brian Gilpin, Joshua Gilpin, Tina Mercado (Robert), Tom Christenson, and Teri Field (Kevin), and a beloved great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings: Steve Stevenson, Vivian Consa, and Roger Stevenson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pauline was also preceded in death her brother, Harvey Stevenson; and her sister, Shirley Dierolf.
Throughout her life, Pauline was a dedicated worker and community member. Pauline was a long-time member of the Aldenville Baptist Church. She held various positions at Gilpin's Pharmacy, Frey Plastic, Weiler Brush Home Machine, Staybar, and Private Brands Specialty Brushes. Even after retirement, she continued worked part-time at Dutch's Market.
Pauline gave generously of her time and heart, volunteering in many organizations throughout the community. She became a member of the Greene Dreher Sterling Fair in 1956 and was honored as a lifetime member in 1996. Pauline also served as a 4-H leader, Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, and a committed volunteer at the Wayne County Food Pantry.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for the kind and dedicated care provided during Pauline's final weeks.
A Service of Celebration of Pauline's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Jericho Independent Church, 289 Sterling Rd, Newfoundland, PA 18445, officiated by her son, Rev. Gary L. Gilpin, and Pastor William Henwood.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM in the church on the morning of the service, Saturday, September 6th.
Interment will be at Hopedale Moravian Cemetery in Newfoundland.
