Mary E. Rollison

Mary E. Rollison, 90, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 1, 2025 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. Her husband of more than 39 years, Charles L. Rollison preceded her in death on August 15, 1995.

Born September 29, 1934 in the family homestead in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary C. (Smith) Mullen.

Mary was a graduate of Honesdale Catholic High School. Soon after, she married Charles and together, they started their family.

Mary was one of the first telephone operators in Honesdale; she worked for the Bell Telephone Company. Mary was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart and the former St. Patrick's Church in Canaan Township.

Mary was an incredibly talented seamstress. Over the years, with her artistic skills and ability, she created many bridal gowns, bridal party dresses, and other garments including western shirts for her sons. She was perhaps best known for creating hundreds and hundreds of Raggedy Ann dolls which still exist in places all over the world today.

Always one to enjoy the company of family, friends, and loved ones, Mary enjoyed playing Pinochle and polka dancing. As a homemaker, Mary was a fabulous baker. She made the best chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon buns anyone could dream of. Mary loved children and enjoyed babysitting and caring for others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all the lives she touched.

Mary is survived by two sons, Charles M. Rollison and his wife Deborah of Cherry Ridge, Michael E. Rollison and his wife Jocelyn Cramer of Damascus; twin daughters, Dawn Lehutsky and her husband Joseph of Waymart, and Diane Christopher-Riefler and her husband William of Honesdale; eight grandchildren: Charles Rollison and his wife Brandi, Richard Rollison and his wife Lynn, Michael Rollison and his wife Reese, Aileen Watson and her husband Mike, Sean Lehutsky and his wife Samantha, Scott Lehutsky, Kayla Peterson and her husband Michael, and Thomas Christopher; eight great-grandchildren: Charles, Maci Marie, Cody, Landon, Benjamin, Abe, Sam, Joey, and Logan; a brother, Joseph Mullen and his wife Stella of Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Joan Vaverchak of Jordan, NY, and Grace Davis of Milanville; and many nieces and nephews.
