Martin "Mark" James Barrett III, 82, of Hollisterville passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 16, 2025 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. His wife, Deborah "Debi" Lee (Hartman) Barrett preceded him in death on March 14, 2020.
Born in Berwick, PA, he was the son of the late Martin James Barrett II and Margaret Agnes (Graham) Barrett.
Martin attended Berwick area schools where he and his sister were a part of the concert and marching band.
Martin graduated from LaSalle University in Chemistry and got his masters from the University of Scranton. Martin worked as a Chemist for the majority of his career.
Martin served in the Army Reserves for 20 years and served with the 300th Field Hospital in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm.
Martin loved his wife and family and took good care of them.
He spent his remaining years as a resident at the Gino J Merli Veterans Center who took wonderful care of him.
Mark is survived by two daughters: Cynthia Barrett of Salem, Massachusetts, and Sarah Barrett of Hagerstown, Maryland; four grandchildren: Naomi, Joshua, Gus and Sam; a sister, Clare Ann Burke; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Barrett (wife Kay Mundis Barrett).
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
Friends and family may visit on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Interment with military honors will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
