Marjorie G. Schwab

Marjorie Grace Schwab, 85, of Honesdale passed away on Friday morning, September 8, 2023 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She is survived by her beloved husband, William D. Schwab, Sr., also a resident at Wayne Woodlands Manor. Together, they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on September 15. When asked what made their marriage last, Marge would say, "God, love, and lots of forgiveness."

Born May 22, 1938 in Galilee, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Cora (Conklin) White.

Whenever she was making plans, Marge always said, "Good Lord willing, and if the creek don't rise." On Friday morning, the creek rose. The Good Lord was willing that Marge should no longer be in pain, but joyously with her loved ones that went before her. Her family imagines that after running into the arms of Jesus, she hugged her loved ones awaiting her there; her mom, sisters, brothers, and her beloved daughter Penny, whom she so dearly missed.

Marge will always be remembered for her devotion to her family. She was a talented seamstress and worked in the local garment industry for many years prior to retirement. She was well known for her cake decorating and the thousands of Christmas cookies of endless variety she made for her family throughout the years. Margie, as Bill loved to call her, always loved a good yard sale and a new adventure, especially long car drives to nowhere in particular. The bright sunshine of Marge's love was a special gift to each and every person who was blessed to have had her in their life.

Marge is also survived by her children: William Schwab Jr. (Kendall), Shelley Schwab, Michael Schwab, Patrick Schwab, Lisa Weinger, and Rebecca Turner (Joe); Molly Rhoads (Shannon); grandchildren: Michael Jr., Cora, Katrina, Talitha, James, Karl, Jesse, Luke, Marissa, Erin, and Rachel; great-grandchildren: Gabriella, Genevieve, Chloe, Penylope, Aoua, Layna, Ameah, Alexis, Jesse, Kaya, Rhiannon, and Bennett; daughters-in-law, Brenda Bonham and Laurie Schwab; a brother, Byron "Bud" White; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Jones; a son-in-law, Karl Weinger; and sisters and brothers: Jeanette Rutledge, Helen Fields, Evelyn Smith, Richard White, Melvin White, and Jack White.
