Marilyn B. McElroy

Marilyn B. McElroy, 85, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness, on Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2026 at her daughter's home, surrounded by the love of her family. Her husband, David R. McElroy, preceded her in death on August 17, 2013.

Born May 24, 1941 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Marvin F. and Ethel L. (Ehrle) Weidner.

Marilyn was a graduate of Honesdale High School in the Class of 1959. She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Honesdale. For many years, Marilyn had a daycare at her home where she lovingly influenced and cared for many children. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with those she loved.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelli Barsh and her husband Robert of Honesdale; a son, Mark McElroy of Honesdale; a granddaughter, Kacie Wheeler and her husband Michael.

Marilyn was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie L. Schwab who passed away on July 11, 2026.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Warren Street, Honesdale, with Pastor Adam Reinhardt officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery on Saturday.
