Leland Stanton

Leland A. Stanton, 90, of Waymart passed away Monday morning, June 26, 2023 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. His beloved wife, the former Stella L. Teeter survives him.

Born February 20, 1933 in Rock Rift, New York, he was the son of the late John and Ora (Hulse) Stanton.

As a young man, Leland enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Seaman Apprentice. While serving in active duty, he and Stella were married. Leland was a mechanic and truck driver for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and mowing grass. Leland will be forever remembered as a great husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is also survived by his children: Charlene Miller of South Carolina, Donna Masker of Florida, Joseph Stanton of Vandling, Melaney Long of Arizona, Daniel Stanton of Carbondale, Carolyn Urban of Clifford, and Julie Thomas of Waymart; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Stanton; and all of his siblings.

In accordance with his wishes, following cremation, graveside services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Private interment will be in Valley View Memorial Park, Scott Township, PA.
