Laurie L. Schwab

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Laurie (McElroy) Schwab. Laurie passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 58.

Laurie was the daughter of Marilyn (Weidner) McElroy and the late David R. McElroy.

She is survived not only by her mother, but her sister, Kelli Barsh and husband Robert; brother, Mark McElroy; and niece Kacie Wheeler and husband Michael.

Laurie was blessed by wonderful friends, including: her former husband Patrick Schwab, John Strackbein and Karen Verrill.

Laurie was known for her generosity, kindness and undying faith. St. John's Lutheran Church was like her second family. To say Laurie will be missed is an understatement, but her family finds peace knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and the loved ones that have preceded her.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Warren Street, Honesdale, with Pastor Adam Reinhardt officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery on Monday.
