Kyra Alexandra Kopestonsky, 52, of Eagle, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from breast cancer. Kyra was the daughter of Rev. T. Stephen & Sandra Alexandra (Miller) Kopestonsky of South Canaan, Pennsylvania.
Kyra, affectionately called Keeker, had an adventurous spirit and loved hiking in the mountains. Growing up, she lived in Florida and Ohio, but it was exploring the pastures at her great-aunt Olga and uncle Peter's dairy farm in South Canaan where she developed her love of nature. She enjoyed listening to owls and observing plants and assorted creatures. After graduating from Hiram College with a degree in Biology, she traveled in Australia and extensively in the Western USA. In all her travels, she always seemed to end up caring for animals-- goats, dogs, cats, rabbits-- she loved them all. She was a skilled musician, playing the piano, cello, balalaika, and even the harmonica and didgeridoo. Her audiences ranged from her family in a living room, to strangers at small performance halls, to friends at a drum circle, to the creatures in the forest. She painted beautiful small studies and bold murals on gym walls. If you were lucky, you might receive a specially constructed envelope with pictures chosen just for you which would contain a handwritten note and a little drawing. She composed poetry and helped other to express themselves with creative writing. While gentle and kind, she was also fierce and stubborn. Optimistic, quirky, playful, and over-the-top enthusiastic, Kyra could just make you smile. So many people will miss her brave, bold, loving heart.
In addition to her parents, she is also survived by two sisters, Larissa Kopestonsky (Pat Price) of Columbus, OH, and Theodora Kopestonsky of Crawfordsville, Indiana; a niece, Kaia Price; and a nephew, Rio Price; as well as innumerable friends and chosen family across the world.
May her memory be eternal!
