James H. Robbins, 82, of Seelyville died peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness.  His beloved wife of nearly 57 years, the former Ruth Ann Bowen survives him.  They were married on May 20, 1967.

Born August 14, 1941 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Louisa Mae (Turner) Robbins.

Jim was a graduate of Honesdale High School.  For many years, he worked at the former Katz Underwear Factory in Honesdale. Jim later went on to work at The Dime Bank where he was a beloved fixture and community friend. Always with a smile, he took the time to talk to everyone he met and genuinely cared about the well being of others. Jim was known to be a jokester; he loved to laugh and make others smile.  He was a faithful member of the Aldenville Baptist Church.

The theme of Jim's life was to love God and love family; he lived out this commitment each day of his life. He loved to go on vacations with his family and spend meaningful time together.  His kind and caring nature was often observed in his love for animals, especially dogs.  His beloved Petunia will surely miss him at home. Jim desired to do everything possible to be helpful; he was Ruth Ann's cheerful dishwasher for 57 years.  Although we will all miss him in this world, we look forward to joining him again in the presence of the Lord whom Jim adored.

In addition to his wife, Jim is also survived by three children:  Christina Smith and her husband Bob of Honesdale, Rebecca Comerford and her husband Thomas of Fleetville, and Brian Robbins and his wife Perla of Aurora, CO; four grandchildren:  Dustin Smith (Kayla Komar), and Cody Smith (Gina Dell'Aquila) of Honesdale, and Romeo Robbins and Blake Robbins of Aurora, CO; a brother-in-law, Art Olver; and two sisters-in-law, Alberta Robbins and Sue Robbins; nieces, nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jim was also preceded in death by all of his siblings:  Janet Olver, Robert Robbins, Bessie Kurtz and her husband Raymond, Richard Robbins, and Donald Robbins.

Jim's family extends very special gratitude to their niece, Kathy Robbins Griffis, and their dear friend, David Wright for the kind and compassionate care they have both provided Jim and Ruth Ann, especially throughout the last several years.  Also, a sincere thank you is given to the staff on 3 West at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
