James Clark Flynn, Sr., 82, of Blairstown, New Jersey, died peacefully on Monday morning, August 31, 2026, at Newton Medical Center in Newton, NJ, after an illness.
Born October 23, 1943, in Waymart, PA, he was the son of the late James Flynn and Jennie L. (Beam) Flynn Bellis.
Jim was a graduate of Waymart High School. As a young man, Jim began working as a diesel mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his lifetime. Jim's natural skill and industrious personality led him to build a career as a well-known and deeply respected firearms dealer for more than 50 years. He owned and operated a firearms business in Glen Gardner, New Jersey, where he gained the trust, respect, and customer base of hunters, outdoorsmen, and various law enforcement agencies and individuals.
As he reflected on years gone by, Jim expressed that he was deeply grateful for life's experiences; he felt blessed by the good life he enjoyed. More than anything, Jim loved helping others. Throughout his lifetime, he quietly helped many people, and he was always glad to do it. He will be lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by three children: Lisa M. Flynn of Scranton, James C. Flynn, Jr. of Allamuchy, NJ, and Jennifer Brower of Columbia, NJ; two brothers: Stanley "Butch" Shemanski of Waymart, and John Shemanski of Factoryville; four grandchildren: Donnie, Elizabeth, Dawn, and Vincent; a great-granddaughter, Laila; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jacqueline Wormuth, Mary Ellen Shemanski; and a brother, Bill Shemanski.
In accordance with his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
Interment will be private in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners.
