Helga J. Gregory, 61, of Pleasant Mount passed away peacefully on Friday morning, November 17, 2023 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a battle against cancer. Her husband, Richard D. "Rick" Gregory survives her.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey on September 20, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Rowan, Jr. and Anne Hersinger.
Helga graduated from Forest City Regional High School in 1980. In her youth, she worked at the former Parker's Pharmacy in Honesdale and it was there that she met Rick, and they were soon married. Helga worked at Pediatric Practices in Honesdale for more than 20 years and loved the many relationships she made there. Most recently, she worked at Trehab in Honsdale until her illness progressed. Helga was full of life and enjoyed golfing, 4-wheeling, and playing horseshoes, pool and darts. She was a friend to everyone and always looked for opportunities to help others. Of all her important roles in life, none could compare to that of being Mom and Grandma. She loved spending time with her family and especially cherished her grandchildren. Helga's memory will live on forever in the many lives she blessed with her beautiful soul.
She is also survived by her son, Thomas "T.R." Gregory (Wendy) of Bethany; her daughter, Brandi Gregory (Josh Korb) of Honesdale; and Ariel Hoherchak whom she loved as a daughter; her close friend, Penny Hornbaker; grandchildren: Kamden, Devine, Enazer, and Jusiah; brothers, Bruce Rowan (Leslie) of Carbondale, Lee Rowan (Robin) of Honesdale, John Rowan (Carol) of Jermyn, and Tommy Rowan of Olyphant; and a sister, Julie Rowan of Waymart; Rick's sisters: Roxane Kilgo (James) of Honesdale, Richelle Heck of Niceville, FL, Cheryl Fulkrod (Robert) of Honesdale, Linda Johnson of Bradenton, FL, and Leslie Gregory of Waymart.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Richard S. Gregory and Dorothy R. Gregory.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 1:00 P.M. in The Waymart Cemetery, Owego Turnpike, with Pastor Sal Maiorana officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
