Gleny's Edwards

Gleny's J. Edwards, 77, of Waymart, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at home. Her husband, David R. "Rocky" Edwards, Jr., survives her. They were married on May 4, 1968.

Born March 18, 1949, in Carbondale, Gleny's was the daughter of the late Evan "Bud" Griffiths and Dorothy M. (Evans) Griffiths.

Gleny's was a faithful and active member of Laurel Chapel #67, Order of the Eastern Star, in Waymart, where she served as Worthy Matron in 2012 and 2021, District Deputy, a member of the Grand Family, and Grand Representative to Vermont and Iowa.

For many years, she worked at Waymart Knitwear. Upon closing, she went to work at Tri-County Human Services Center in Carbondale, PA. She retired from Gustin Stone Supply, Lakewood, PA, in December 2011.

She is survived by a son, John Edwards of Waymart; a daughter, Traci Vennie and her husband Brian of Tafton; six grandchildren: Ryan, Todd, Jordan, Brandon, Ryleigh, and Bailey; and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Griffiths and his wife Ruthann of Carbondale; two sisters, Cheryl Hunter of Waymart, and Kimberly Nichols and her husband Dave of Jermyn.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Gail Ruth Griffiths.

Viewing will be on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

An Eastern Star Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM, immediately followed by the Funeral Service with Pastor Matt Guedes officiating, at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472. Interment will be on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners.
