Elwood D. Dolph

Elwood D. Dolph, "Dad," "Grandpa," "Uncle Elwood," 90, of South Canaan Township, Waymart, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, July 6, 2024 in Lake Ariel, PA after a short illness.

He was born at home in Herrick Center, PA on May 14, 1934, & lived 90 long filled years.

He left school at an early age and spent his youth lumbering in the woods, working in stone quarries and tearing up the dirt roads in his Ford car when he wasn't driving trucks hauling logs. Married young to Irene Green, together they had 5 children: Richard, Donald, Ronald, Bruce, Diane.

They were later divorced and he married Helen Till and helped raise 2 new sons Thomas and Douglas Till.

Elwood moved to New Jersey and started a new career at Wallace & Tiernan. In the 30 years there, he worked his way up from laborer to General Supervisor of his division.

He then happily retired and purchased the original Dolph Family Farm & Home in Waymart, PA, built by his grandparents John and Mabel (Robinson) Dolph where he spent many happy years tearing through the woods in trucks, cars, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and his favorite- 4 wheelers.

Dad also spent his retirement years building a one room log cabin, carving out roads and cutting down trees for firewood to sell and heat his home with his brothers Bud & Bob Dolph.

His real joy in life was spending time with family and friends outside in his woods and fields.

He was preceded in death by both his wives, and his siblings, Robert & Patricia (Dolph) Crossman, and Charles (Bud) Dolph, Leonard Dolph, and Robert (Bob) Dolph, as well as his sons: Ronald & Douglas; daughter, Diana; and granddaughter, Jessie Till.

He leaves behind sister-in-laws: Vonnie Dolph & Patricia Dolph; children: Richard & Tricia Dolph, Donald & Mary Dolph, Bruce & Tery Dolph, Thomas & Nancy Till; grandchildren,

Jeff & Melissa (Daddona) Lepoidevin, Jamie Dolph, Daniel Dolph, Mike & Kristee (Dolph) Salvatore, Richard & Nicole Dolph, Tanner & Ashley Dolph, Trevor & Brittany Dolph, Colleen Till, Samantha Till, Johnathan & Kayla Smith; great-grandchildren: Sean & Hayley Holley, Hayden Holley, Easton Dolph, Rowan Dolph, Parker Jane PJ Dolph, Levi Dolph, Leeland Dolph, Lennox Dolph, Chase Lepoidevin, Jax Lepoidevin, JJ Dolph; great-great-grandchild; Kinsley Gene Holley; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 4-6 PM at The Gravity Restaurant, 40 Gravity Planes Road, Waymart, PA 18472.

Interment will be in East Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan, at the convenience of the family.
