Elizabeth A. Gardner

Elizabeth A. (Holbert) Gardner passed away on Sunday evening, September 14th, 2025 at Ellen Memorial Nursing Facility after an extended illness with ALS. She was the widow of B. Milo Gardner who preceded her in death after 65 years of marriage.

Born February 12th, 1937 at the home of her grandparents on the farm in Indian Orchard, she was the daughter of Robert D. and Esther (Seaman) Holbert. A lifelong resident of Waymart, she graduated from Honesdale High School class of 1954 and attended Keystone Jr. College. Elizabeth was a life long member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale, PA, being baptized and confirmed in the same church. Elizabeth was active in the Eastern Star in her younger years.

She is survived by a son, Milo Robert Gardner and wife, Rosemary of Waymart; two daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Hauenstein, RN and husband, Leonard of Aldenville, and Nancy Sparrow and husband, Edward Sr. of Carbondale; four grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Sarah and Edward Jr.; two great-granddaughters; and one sister, Roberta Wittenbrader (Albert) of Hollisterville.

Interment will be in the Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to thank the Carbondale Nursing Facility, Ellen Memorial Nursing Facility and Hospice of Sacred Heart for the excellent care and compassion they provided.
