Dwight N. "Butch" Bonham, 77, of Mount Pleasant Township, died peacefully at home on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. His wife of 55 years is the former Louise A. Harvatine. They were married on July 11, 1970.
Born on July 27, 1948 in Honesdale, Butch was the son of the late Jesse A. and Alvena M. (Baldwin) Bonham.
Butch was a lifelong farmer and was deeply faithful to his family and farm. For many years, he operated the family dairy farm and was a member of the Dairylea Cooperative. Butch was a school bus owner/operator driving for the Forest City Regional School District for 47 years. His entire life was built around his family, farm, and loved ones. Being in the barn with everyone or working in the garage with his boys was his favorite past time. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren watching them work with their 4-H animals and supporting them at the Wayne County Fair. Butch was a gifted mechanic and could fix just about anything. He will be remembered for his sense of humor even in the worst of times, his unwavering patience and as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
In addition to his wife, Butch is also survived by four children: Sheila Fuller and her husband Scott, Margaret Kellogg, Frank Bonham and his wife Carrie, and Eric Bonham and his wife Jennifer, all of Mount Pleasant Twp., eight grandchildren: Aimee, Sierra, Leah, Brooke, Holly, Caitlyn, Kyle, Nicholas, and Lena; and two great-grandchildren: Kane and Peighton; his sister, Helen Carlin of York, PA; sisters-in-law, Lisa Bonham, Nancy Harvatine; and brothers-in-law, Tony Harvatine and his wife Sue, and Paul Haravine and his wife Susan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alvena Leet and her husband Nelson, Shirley Bonham, and Iora Bonham; his brothers, Kenneth "Dewey" Bonham and his wife Artemice, Raymond Bonham and wife Maureen, and Arthur "Buddy" Bonham; and brothers-in-law, Dexter Carlin, Frank Harvatine and his wife Beverly, Carl Harvatine, and Marie Westgate and her husband Bill.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Patricia Lee officiating at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
Friends and family may visit on Saturday morning from 9-11 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be private, in Green Grove Cemetery, Bethany Turnpike, Pleasant Mount.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Butch's memory to the Wayne County Junior 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale Scholarship in care of Rosalind Williams, Secretary and Scholarship Fund Manager, 409 Stock Farm Rd., Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
