Dr. Richard J. Korb

Dr. Richard J. Korb, 78, of Honesdale, died peacefully on Thursday morning, February 5, 2026, after an extended illness. His loving wife of 54 years, Maxine M. (Thorpe) Korb survives him. They were married on August 14, 1971.

Born April 5, 1947 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Richard and Phyllis (Cook) Korb.

Richard was a graduate of Honesdale High School. In July of 1966, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on active duty until his honorable discharge in 1970. For two of his four years of enlistment, Richard was stationed in Japan.

He later enrolled at National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Illinois. Richard completed the program there and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine. For more than 43 years, Dr. Korb served the local community as a kind and caring chiropractor from 1977 until 2020 when his health prevented him from continuing. For several years, his office was located on Church Street in Honesdale. He later moved his practice to his home where he welcomed patients both day and night, according to their needs and schedules. He always put others first. Richard was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale.

Rich was truly a jack of all trades. An accomplished musician, he enjoyed playing guitar. His hobbies were varied and included playing golf, fishing, hunting, and hill climbs. A car and motorcycle enthusiast, Rich also took pleasure in working on vehicles as well. He was grateful to have enjoyed going on several cruises with Maxine.

The community will always remember him as "Dr. Korb"; but, to his family, he will always be known for his love and commitment as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He is also survived by two children: Kara Poremba and her husband Stephen, and Ricky Korb; two grandchildren: Noah and Amelia; and a sister, Constance Macleary, all of Honesdale.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 14 at 10:30 AM in The Wesley Room at Central United Methodist Church, 205 11th Street, Honesdale, PA with Rev. Eric L. Funk officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service in the Wesley Room on Saturday, February 14.
