Dennis Leroy Brown, 66, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him passed away unexpectedly May 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 23,1959 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Dennis's life was a testament to love and laughter.
Dennis grew up in South Amboy, NJ and moved to Waymart, PA before starting high school. Dennis graduated from Western Wayne High School in 1978. After graduation, he worked for the Waymart Knitwear, J. P. Mascaro & Sons and then spent over 20 years at Advanced Auto Parts. Over the years, Dennis had many other jobs, including having his own business, D. L. Brown's Garage for small engine repairs and service, where he was known to say "If I can't fix it, it ain't worth fixing."
Dennis's love for the great outdoors was apparent to all who knew him. He was an avid hunter, loved riding his Harley, snowmobiling and camping. When he wasn't attending his granddaughters soccer, basketball, softball or cheerleading events, you could always find him in his basement loading bullets or in his yard target practicing or doing wood.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Adrian and Doris Brown, his brother Adrian, who died in infancy, his older brother Michael, son-in-law Matthew Diehl, sister-in-law Gloria Brown and brother-in-law Jim Coggins.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Linda Brown, son Adrian Brown and wife Mary, daughter Brenda Diehl, and his beloved granddaughters Daisy and Molly Diehl and Sarah and Danielle Brown; sister-in-law Eileen Brown, sister Brenda Weller and husband Russell, sister Karan Coggins and brother Paul Brown.
Dennis had a way of making everyone feel like family and became a father figure to many, especially Heather Ford and husband Adam, Erin Miller and husband Nathan, Alice Black and husband Ian, Ernie Neales, Christine Weber, Frank Muller, Meghan Diehl and partner Brian Ujobai and their children Maddie, Valerie and Jennifer.
Dennis left a big mark on the lives of everyone he met. He gave so much of himself to the people and community he loved and he truly felt like everyone's grandpa.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1, 2026 with visitation and calling hours from 3-6 PM at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
