David C. Walker, 79, of Hollisterville passed away on Thursday morning, February 1, 2024 at home. His beloved wife, the former Karen E. Wetzel survives him.
Born on April 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Gerald Bidwell Walker and Elsie Swingle Walker.
David lived his entire life on the family farm in Hollisterville, following in the footsteps of the generations of family before him. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated High School, and later earned an Associates Degree from Delhi College in New York State. An industrious farmer for many years, David loved to tend and care for God's creation. He looked forward to planting season and harvest time and diligently worked all the days in between. For many years, he owned and operated school buses for the North Pocono School District and also worked at the former Community Medical Center in Scranton. David was a 4th generation member of the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville. A great man of faith, David lived a life that exemplified the grace, mercy, and love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his wife, David is also survived by his children: Amy Walker of Hollisterville, Holly Pierce (Del) of Dunmore, Laura Szymanski (Carl) of Hollisterville, Kendra Wayman of Hollisterville, and Paul Tonetti of Hollisterville; grandchildren: Chynna Walker, Nicole Krautkremer, Maya Wayman, Trey Wayman, David Walker, Nathaniel Swingle, Alison Swingle, Madisyn Pierce, and Sierra Tonetti; great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of friends.
He was also preceded in death by his son, David G. Walker; and his daughter, Marla Tonetti.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville, 23 Pond Road, Moscow, PA 18444 with his friend, Pastor Nate Osborne officiating. A viewing will be held in the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend the viewing and funeral services.
Interment will be private in Hollisterville Cemetery.
