Anna Jubinski Skovran

Anna Jubinski Skovran, 96, died on Friday, June 5, 2026. She was born in Simpson, PA, on December 20, 1929, to Theodosia Priblo (Pribula) and Stephen Jubinski. She was the fourth of five children. When she was a child, her mother ran a small grocery store in Simpson, and her father was a huckster, delivering fresh goods door-to-door to local residents from the back of his truck.

The Jubinski family moved to a dairy farm in Lake Winola, PA, when Anna was a young girl. She graduated from the Falls Township High School in 1946. She moved to Philadelphia and worked as a secretary for the Philadelphia Police Department until her marriage to Nicholas Skovran on March 10, 1956 at the St. John Russian Orthodox Church in Edwardsville, PA.

The couple moved to the Washington, DC, area where Nicholas worked at the US Patent Office as a patent examiner while attending George Washington University Law School at night. Their two daughters were born in Washington, DC.

They moved to Huntington, CT, in 1961, where their son, Nicholas Jr., was born. The family moved to Trumbull, CT, in 1966. Her husband took early retirement, and the couple moved to Cary, NC, in 1996.

Anna was survived by three children: Nadine (Paul) Ham of Cary, NC; Nina (John, Sr.) Bilyeu of Clifton, VA; and Nicholas (Cheryl) Skovran Jr. of Waterbury, CT. There are, in addition, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, Nicholas; her parents; and all four siblings, Dorothy, Alexander, Stephen, and Andrew.

Anna, a lifelong member of the Russian Orthodox faith, was active at parishes in Philadelphia; Washington, DC; Connecticut; and the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in Morrisville, NC.

A viewing was held prior to the funeral service at All Saints Antiochian Orthodox Church in Raleigh, NC on Friday, June 13, 2026.
